OUR MINISTRIES & OTHER ACTIVITIES
"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Teaching the next generation about Jesus is so important. We offer 2 Children's Sunday School classes for children up to fifth grade. Our children study the Bible and discuss life questions under the guidance of knowledgeable and capable Christian leaders.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is the public declaration of faith and promise of lifelong faith in Jesus Christ. It provides an opportunity for people to study what Lutherans believe and and declare their faith in Jesus Christ.
ADULT BIBLE CLASS
Please join us for Adult Bible Class on Thursday Evenings. All are welcome!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Our vacation bible school program is a great way for children to enjoy a fun few days learning about Jesus Christ, enjoying crafts, games and more.
QUILTING
GROUP
Want to learn how to quilt? This is a lost art to many, but the ladies of St. Matthews are keeping the tradition strong. The quilting group enjoys getting together and making quilts, having fun and creating lifelong bonds between our members.
GAME NIGHT& MIRACLE FARMS
Our members offer assistance, education, and fun activities for the residents of Miracle Farms. We are planning dinner/game night activities as well as two-way service projects that we can use to expand their horizons.
Many people suffered unbelievable loss, damages, and even hopelessness as a result of hurricane Dorian and other disasters. We support them through donations of cash, gift cards, and tools for cleanup at our NALC Disaster Response warehouse in Rosenberg, TX. We also donate to Water Missions, a clean water engineering firm that is bringing in equipment to the Bahamas and other places to drill wells, filter water, and desalinate sea water as needed. They are all about providing safe drinking water from natural resources.
The Women of St. Matthews are active in the Women of the NALC. All women and women’s groups of NALC congregations are members of our organization. The WNALC exists to link NALC women together as a community of faith, hope, and love, to enhance and facilitate the work within our local churches. The Women’s Council and other volunteers are called to assist members in God’s mission, study of His Word, service to others in Christ’s name, and fellowship among Christian women.
Believe, Teach, Confess
The Church is the congregation of saints (Psalm 149:1), in which the Gospel is purely taught and the Sacraments are correctly administered. - Augsburg Confession VII 1
